Seattle Beer Week

B-double E-double R-U-N. That spells “beer run,” in case you couldn’t figure it out. Not that I think you couldn’t figure it out. It’s just… You know… Whatever, it’s early, I have a cold, I’m sure you understand, happy Tuesday.
Moving on… We are in the midst of the 2011 Seattle Beer Week!! A whole week dedicated to celebrating what Seattle does best (no, I don’t mean rain or recycle): brew delicious beers. The best part about Seattle Beer Week is that it’s 11 days long. You can’t confine our microbrews to a mere seven days of celebration. They deserve 11, damn it, and 11 they will have.
The festivities end Sunday, May 29th, so if you haven’t already partaken in the festivities, be sure to do so soon. What festivities, you ask? Well, I wish I could list them all here, but there are so many I could never do them all justice. However, I have listed a few highlights below, and you can find a full list here.
6:30 – 9:30 PM: Pyramid Brewery Dinner - Beer Dinner hosted by Pyramid Breweries Join us for a three-course beer dinner created by Pyramid’s head chef, Marcos Villagran.
11:00 PM: 12 Pack at the Troll - New Belgium cans at the troll! Come by Bike.
6:00 – 8:00 PM: Hot Dog Eating Contest @ Pyramid Brewery - Hot Dog Eating Contest in the Beer Garden Join us at PyramidR17;s Beer Garden before the Sounders vs. Dallas game for a hot dog eating contest. Winner gets a prize!
6:00 – 10:00 PM: Brewing up Cocktails @ Brouwer’s Cafe - Hopworks Urban Brewing teams up with Brewing up Cocktails for a special event exploring the art of crafting unique and original cocktails with craft beer as a prime ingredient.
11:00 – 11:45 AM: Sour Beer Fest @ Brouwer’s Cafe - No details needed, you know what’s going down here. And if ya don’t, you should. (Author’s note: If you’ve never had sour beer, try the Duchesse de Bourgone. I’m obsessed!)
8:00 PM – 11:00 PM: The Return of Metal Nite @ Eastlake Zoo Tavern - Live music from 8-11pm, No Cover! Headbanging Contest with prizes galore! Beer Specials from Left Hand & 21st Amendment.
5:00 – 7:00 PM: The Beer Junction @ Pike Brewing Companyl - Come taste the award winning beers of Pike Brewing Company with one of the most respected and important people in the craft beer business, Charles Finkel.
7:00 PM: Night of the Living Nanos @ Fiddler’s Inn - Brewers from three of Washington’s smallest breweries unite
ALL DAY: Can Beer Bonanza @ Old Town Ale House - Finally good beer in cans! Oskar Blues and Caldera Brewing featured.
7:00 – 11:00 PM: Elysian/New Belgium Tandem @ Hopvine - The Beer Week Finale. The Ultimate collaborators come to the Hopvine.
ALL DAY: Yard Grand Opening/ SBW Closing @ The Yard Cafe - Grand Opening of the Yard Cafe and closing of Seattle Beer Week. Beer, tacos and sunshine.
11:00 AM – 11:00 PM: Special Release Beer @ Redhook Brewery - In honor of Seattle Beer Week, we will be tapping a very special beer at our brewery.
